Complaints jump by 40% year on year

The number of financial complaints we received in the first half of 2024 rose by over 40%.
Today we’ve published data showing how many complaints we received about individual businesses – and the uphold rate of those we resolved – between January and June 2020.
We received a total of just over 118,000 complaints in this period. PPI continues to be the most complained about product, with a total of almost 41,500 new complaints received in the first half of 2020. We upheld 31% of complaints in the consumers’ favour. Complaints about financial products have increased by 70% in the past 12 months when compared to the equivalent figure from last year.

Our newly published data shows the number of financial complaints received in the second half of 2023 rose by a fifth.
